I spent so much of my late teen/early adult life pondering this. Jobs, school, friends, parents, boys, insecurity all played into this; all the things that are undoubtedly are at your center core, starting from when you graduate high school to when you graduate college. Probably beyond that, to a certain extent.
It’s funny to think about. You can look back and brood about how superficial you were. Or you can laugh at it. You could beat yourself up about the multiple mistakes you made in the course of five years. Or you can accept that they allowed you to grow as a person immensely. You can choose to stay put where you are and continue life happily stagnant. Or you can choose to make another deep dive into your life.
There are tiny instances and massive events, or people, that shape who you become whether or not you expect or even like it. Sometimes, even in the course of two days, you get a vision and potential grip on what the future might be or hold. Some of those instances and events and people will be crucial. Some become just a blip on your ever changing life radar.
Point is, we fuck up in life constantly but I don’t think that defines any of us as fuck ups. The fuck ups just take you to another point in life that you might have never seen coming.
And with that, away you go.
